The Cave

Egon and Axel meet as boys. The place they meet is a summer camp. Egon is shy and Axel is bold. Axel pulls him along in his wake. At the camp they go into a cave. That day leaves its mark on both their lives. Years pass and Egon becomes a geologist. He has a great plan in his head. But he does not have the money for it. At that point he looks up Axel. Axel is now in the drug business. Egon accepts the offer that comes from him. The decision brings heavier consequences than he expected. The film was adapted from a novel by Tim Krabbé. Fedja van Huêt and Marcel Hensema take the leads in Martin Koolhoven’s four country coproduction of 2001.
