What The Chasers Is About
Two men want the same woman, and the three of them go out into the country together for three days of hunting. As the hunt goes on it becomes unclear who is chasing whom; the gun, the terrain and the waiting all carry the tension between them. The account seems to arrive at a violent place in the end, but the film leaves open whether that really happened and leaves the viewer alone with the possibility it has built. This uncertainty is not a decoration but the structure itself; even the order of events is kept open to argument. Rolf Soder and Bente Borsum appear in Erik Lochen’s ninety four minute Norwegian film, completed in 1959.
