The Closed Circuit

Poland, 2003. Three young businessmen set up a high-technology factory. As the business grows they attract the attention of the local prosecutor and the head of the tax office, both of whom would like the company for themselves. One morning an armed unit goes through their homes; the men are accused of laundering money and arrested. The charge is never made to stick, but the company has already collapsed while the case grinds on. Ryszard Bugajski's film was inspired by a real case, the years-long prosecution of businessmen from Kraków. Janusz Gajos plays the prosecutor. It caused a considerable row in Poland and drew angry responses from within the judiciary.
