What The Day After I'm Gone Is About
Yoram, a veterinarian in Tel Aviv, has lost his wife and cannot talk to Roni, his adolescent daughter. After she tries to end her life he takes her to visit her mother’s family, and the journey runs out into the desert around the Dead Sea. Nimrod Eldar’s first feature offers neither diagnosis nor solution; it watches two people relearning how to stand next to each other. Menashe Noy plays Yoram and Zohar Meidan plays Roni. The film showed in the Panorama section of the Berlinale. That silence and landscape take up more room in it than dialogue is not an accident.
