What The Voice of Hind Rajab Is About

On 29 January 2024, Red Crescent volunteers took an emergency call from a small girl trapped in a car under fire in Gaza, asking someone to come and get her. Kaouther Ben Hania builds the film around the real recording of that call and stays on the volunteers’ end of the line, where the work is to keep the child talking while clearance for an ambulance is negotiated somewhere out of reach. Nothing is dramatised for effect. The horror is in how long the waiting goes on. Her name was Hind Rajab.
