What Four Daughters Is About
Olfa, a Tunisian woman, had four daughters; two of them left home one day. Source summaries say only that they disappeared. The fact is this: the two elder girls were radicalised, crossed into Libya to join Islamic State, and ended up imprisoned there. Kaouther Ben Hania puts professional actresses in place of the two who are gone, and an actress plays Olfa herself in the hardest scenes. The real Olfa and the two younger daughters are in the film as well. So a family performs its own story again. It was nominated for the documentary Oscar.
