The Dion Brothers

Two brothers from rural West Virginia leave home, rob an armoured car and become fugitives. The film does not build the robbery as a display of planning; it tells how unprepared the brothers are and how the escape falls apart. The account makes them neither heroes nor monsters and shows what the place they come from has left them with. It belongs to the vein of American cinema of 1974 that joined the crime film to black humour. The difference between the city and the countryside forms the constant ground of the story. The brothers’ attachment to each other stands as the one steady thing. Stacy Keach and Frederic Forrest appear in Jack Starrett’s ninety four minute American film, completed in 1974.
