The Dove's Lost Necklace

Hassan is learning the art of Arabic calligraphy. His teacher is a master of the field. The work is long and asks for patience. One day a fragment of a manuscript comes into his hands. The fragment is a small part of a whole. Hassan decides to look for the rest. His belief is this: that if he finds the missing pieces he will learn the secrets of love. The search puts him on the road. Every place he comes to teaches him something. The account draws on the Sufi tradition. The film runs fable and quest together. Navin Chowdhry and Walid Arakji take the leads in Nacer Khemir’s French, Italian and Tunisian coproduction of 1992.
