The Encounter

Five strangers stranded on the road end up in an out-of-the-way roadside diner. The man who runs it knows all of their histories, their fears and the things they are not saying. He introduces himself as Jesus, and he talks to each of them in turn. This is a Christian production, and it is more interested in arguing the question of faith directly than in telling a story, which it does not hide. It is talk-driven and effectively takes place in one room. It was built for believers, which is also why it reads as a sermon from outside. Set your expectations accordingly and it does what it set out to do. Bruce Marchiano plays Jesus, and David A.R. White directs.
