The Endless Summer II

Bruce Brown makes the same journey again some thirty years after the documentary he shot in 1966. This time he goes after the best waves in the world with two young surfers, across several continents and oceans. The aim is the same as before: to cross to the other half of the planet so that the summer never ends. Along the way, the places where the first film was shot and some of the people from that time turn up again. How much surfing has grown and professionalised over the intervening thirty years becomes visible on its own. Brown's narration is as relaxed and joking as it was the first time. The images are technically far ahead, and it remains one of the most widely seen productions in surf cinema.
