A young woman blind since the age of two receives a corneal transplant. When she starts seeing, she sees things nobody else does. The film draws its fear less from sudden sound than from looking itself: she is new to sight and does not know what is normal, and the viewer is left in the same uncertainty. The lift scene is the best example of the idea. Oxide Pang Chun and Danny Pang directed together. It is a Hong Kong, Singaporean and Thai production, later remade in both Hollywood and India. Who it's for: those who like the Asian horror of the 2000s. Who it's not for: viewers troubled by jump scares; the film uses them often and well.
