The Feast of the Chicken

The film was shot as though it were a documentary. But its set up is turned around. Behind the camera is a team from Africa. The team works as anthropologists. The place they study is Upper Austria. They describe its people the way native peoples are described. The language they use is that of Western anthropologists. Customs and ceremonies are recorded one by one. A local feast is examined in every detail. The team says it has discovered new cultural phenomena. In that way the method turns back on itself. The account is listed as both documentary and comedy. The film runs for fifty five minutes. Frank Oladeinde and El Hadji Malick Cisse take the leads in Walter Wippersberg’s Austrian film of 1992.
