The Final Quarter

The documentary is about the Australian footballer Adam Goodes. Goodes is an Indigenous player. The film looks at his last three seasons. The period runs from 2013 to 2015. In those years Goodes spoke openly against racism. He was named Australian of the Year. He performed a war dance on the field. The crowds began to turn against him. He was booed at matches. The reason for that reaction was argued over nationally. Goodes and many commentators put it down to racism. Those who disagreed offered other reasons. The film uses no new interviews. There is nothing but archive footage, newspaper headlines and broadcasts. The documentary puts the argument in front of us as it was. Adam Goodes appears in the seventy minute documentary. It is an Australian production Ian Darling finished in 2019.
