What The Glembays Is About
The Glembays, one of the rich families of Zagreb, are spoken of in connection with an unbroken run of disasters and a dark past. Leone, the son of the man at the head of the family, begins to feel disgust at the hypocrisy, the perversions and the covered up crimes that run through the house. The account concentrates that disgust into a single night; everything left unsaid is spoken, one thing at a time, around the table. The film is a family story and at the same time an attempt to take apart the way a class tells about itself. It was adapted from a literary work. Mustafa Nadarevic and Ena Begovic appear in Antun Vrdoljak’s hundred and twenty minute Yugoslav film, completed in 1988.
