What Cyclops Is About
Melkior Tresić lives in Zagreb. The year is 1941. The war is at the city’s door. Melkior is one of the intellectuals. He does not know what to do. There are people around him in the same position. They talk it over in the cafés. None of them can stop what is coming. There is nothing they can do but wait. The film is about that waiting. The story comes from a novel by Ranko Marinković. The novel carries the same title as the film. A five part series was made from the film the following year. It carried scenes that were not in the film. The production took two prizes at Pula, with Mira Furlan named best supporting actress.
