Shosuke Tanihara K Kazuo Yamagishi What The God of Ramen Is About
Every day a queue forms outside a small shop. Those waiting wait more than two hours. What they want is a bowl of ramen. The owner of the shop is Kazuo Yamagishi. He runs a place called Taishoken. Everyone asks him for the secret recipe. There is no secret ingredient. To the regulars the real reason is the man himself. People come from all over Japan for him. Yamagishi has done the work with the same care for many years. The flavour rests on a carefully measured balance. The documentary watches him in the kitchen. As he grows older the question of who carries the work on appears. Kazuo Yamagishi talks through his own shop in the ninety minute documentary, a Japanese production Takashi Innami finished in 2013.
