What The Goose Steps Out Is About
The schoolteacher William Potts is the exact double of a captured German agent. British intelligence uses the resemblance to send him into Germany; his task is to obtain the plans of a new secret weapon. Once there he has to teach in a youth school and throws everything into confusion with his ineptitude. The film was made during the war years and is a comedy built to make the enemy look ridiculous; it is worth watching knowing that this tone belongs to the morale production of the period. The account puts the school scenes at the centre of its humour. Will Hay appears in the seventy nine minute British film by Basil Dearden and Will Hay, completed in 1942.
