What The Green Butchers Is About
Two men who leave the butcher's where they worked to open their own shop find no customers. Meat that appears through an accident draws unexpected interest and demand grows. The film makes the horror entirely ordinary; nobody plans anything, and everything follows from trying to cover the first mistake. The narrative keeps both men pitiable, and that is exactly where the humour comes from. Anders Thomas Jensen wrote and directed, with Mads Mikkelsen and Nikolaj Lie Kaas. It is a Danish production. A real warning: the subject is cannibalism and there are scenes of bodies being processed. The black comedy is very hard and not for everyone.
