The Invincible Armour

In the Ming period a corrupt palace guard kills a minister and puts the blame on a young officer. The officer runs and becomes a wanted man. On the road he meets a young man who knows the technique called Iron Shirt; a blow struck at someone who has mastered it does not land. But the guard knows the same technique, and the Eagle Claw as well. Directed by Ng See-Yuen, this Hong Kong production belongs to the densest period of martial arts filmmaking at the end of the seventies. John Liu was known for his legwork and Hwang Jang-lee for his kicking, and the film sets the two against each other. The fight choreography is the whole reason for the film; the story exists only to connect the fights. Corey Yuen is in the cast. The names of the techniques are invented, but the work in the scenes is real.
