The Invisible Front

The documentary covers the years between 1944 and 1953. There was a resistance movement in the Baltic region. Partisan units united against the Soviet Union. The Soviet Interior forces gave that movement in Lithuania a name. The code name they used was the Invisible Front. The film builds the story around one partisan leader. The man is Juozas Lukša. His words and what he lived through form the spine of the account. To this are added the accounts of witnesses. The people speaking are not only the partisans. Soviet fighters from the other side speak as well. Archival footage runs between them. Among the things described are torture and horror. The documentary gives these in the words of those who survived. The eighty seven minute documentary was directed by Vincas Sruoginis and Jonas Ohman. It is an Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Russian, Swedish and American co-production finished in 2014.
