What The Last Match Is About
Two young men in Havana. Reinier has a baby, a very young wife and a permanent need for money, which he raises by sleeping with tourists, gambling, whatever turns up. Yosvani is attached to an older wealthy woman and works for her father, a loan shark. They meet playing football on the dirt pitch in their neighbourhood, and what grows between them goes somewhere neither can name. Antonio Hens tells it as a story about being trapped rather than a romance: a relationship nobody can say out loud, inside a life that requires cash.
