What The Late Edwina Black Is About
In the Victorian era, Edwina Black, long an invalid, dies suddenly, and the post-mortem shows a fatal quantity of arsenic in her body. Suspicion settles at once on two people: her husband and the young woman who was her companion in the house, because the two have been in love for some time. Inspector Martin of Scotland Yard stays on in the house, taking tea with everyone and comparing who said what and when. The silence inside the house comes in time to say more than the explanations do.
