The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg

Hank Greenberg was a baseball player. He played first base for the Detroit Tigers. In the nineteen thirties he was among the team’s best. The team went to the front of the league in those years. Greenberg came from a Jewish family. He became the first major Jewish star in the major leagues. He met antisemitism on the field and from the stands. He went on playing all the same. He became a figure the Jewish community looked to. He was later taken into the Hall of Fame. The documentary tells that life. Archive footage is used. Former teammates speak. So do fans, friends and family. Sander Levin and Carl Levin appear in the ninety minute film, an American production Aviva Kempner finished in 1998.
