The Love

Karim lives in Rotterdam. His family is of Moroccan origin. He himself was born and raised in the Netherlands. For years he had kept something to himself. In the end he tells his parents. He tells them that he is attracted to men. After those words the house goes quiet. Karim shuts himself in a room. There the past runs through his mind. His childhood, his relatives and the life of the neighbourhood come back. His mother and father do their own reckoning as well. The family looks for ways to keep the silence going. Karim for his part wants it spoken about. But first he has to come to terms with his own feelings. Fahd Larhzaoui and Lubna Azabal take the leads, with Slimane Dazi and Sabri Saddik also in the cast, in Shariff Nasr’s Dutch film of 2022.
