Milk looks like an innocent product. Behind it, though, is an industry worth billions of euros. The documentary looks at how that industry works. The people it talks to come from different sides. Farmers speak. Owners of dairy businesses speak. There are politicians and lobbyists too. Scientists and non-governmental organisations give their views. Everyone sees the industry differently. Small farmers in Europe are struggling to survive. The large companies are looking for growth outside Europe. There is a producer from Senegal in the film as well. He has to compete with products made from imported milk powder. The account sets out the hidden costs of production and offers possible solutions. The ninety minute documentary carries the signature of Andreas Pichler, a German and Italian co-production finished in 2017.
