What The Most Dangerous Game Is About
A hired gun taken on to recover someone who has been kidnapped ends up in the middle of a hard power struggle between two large corporations over a sizeable government defence contract. The job begins as a simple recovery and it grows steadily less clear who is using whom. The film works with the hard mould of Japanese action cinema of the late seventies; its hero says little and the violence is dry and quick. The account does not set the corporations apart from the criminal world but shows both as parts of the same order. It is the first film of a trilogy. Yusaku Matsuda plays the lead in Toru Murakawa’s eighty nine minute Japanese film, completed in 1978.
