Baby Assassins 3

Yugo Sakamoto's 2024 film is the third entry in the series about two young contract killers. Mahiro and Chisato travel to Miyazaki for a job and plan to take a holiday at the same time, only to run into a legendary assassin whose sole object is raising his kill count. The series balance holds here too: outside their work the pair are extremely lazy and inept, unable to manage anything in ordinary life, and the comedy comes from that contrast. The fights are among the best of the genre in Japan; Saori Izawa performs her own action and long unbroken takes keep the choreography visible. Moving between action and humour is the series' main identity. Who it's for: viewers who like Japanese action and low-budget, choreography-led fight films. Who it's not for: anyone who has not seen the earlier films, or who wants character depth.
