Why Don't You Play in Hell?

A Japanese film that joins a passion for cinema to the world of the yakuza. A group of young men call themselves the Fuck Bombers and want to make a film. They have no equipment, no actors and have been waiting ten years. All they want is to make one real film. At the same time an old score runs between two yakuza families. A boss's wife is about to be released from prison and he wants to prepare a gift for her: a film starring their daughter. The two lines join. The young men agree to make it and use a real battle as their final scene. The camera runs, the blood is real, and nobody stops. The idea is how far a person will go for cinema. The narrative delivers it through excess, blood and comedy. The register keeps changing: youth film, gangster story, comedy, and in the last section a full massacre. Jun Kunimura, Fumi Nikaido and Hiroki Hasegawa are in the cast. Sion Sono directed. An enjoyable production for anyone who likes Japanese cinema and excessive mixtures of genre. Before you watch, know this: the last half hour is blood from beginning to end and the film presents it as comedy.
