Kill Boksoon

A Korean film about an assassin. Gil Bok-soon is considered the best in the business. She is also the mother of a teenage daughter and they do not get on. The company she works for has rules: no work without a contract, and once a contract is accepted it is completed. When Bok-soon refuses a job the rules begin to work against her. The idea is to run two lines together: fight scenes and an internal reckoning at the company on one side, a mother and daughter unable to talk to each other on the other. Both carry the same problem; neither tells the truth. The fights also work inside the narrative. Bok-soon rehearses a confrontation in her mind first, and the film shows those rehearsals; so the same scene is played several times with different outcomes. Jeon Do-yeon plays Bok-soon; she is among Korea's leading actors. Byun Sung-hyun directed. It was shown directly on a streaming service and reached the most-watched lists in many countries. A tight example for anyone who likes Korean action and fight choreography. For a viewer looking for surprises, the plot follows the genre's known template; the real difference is in the mother and daughter line.
