What The Most Dangerous Man in America Is About
Daniel Ellsberg is an analyst at the Pentagon who knows the Vietnam policy from the inside. The classified reports in his hands show one thing: successive presidents knew the war could not be won and did not say so publicly. Ellsberg photocopies seven thousand pages, night after night, and hands them to the press. The New York Times publishes, the government goes to court, and the Supreme Court finds for the press. The Nixon administration then turns on Ellsberg himself, and one arm of that operation leads to Watergate. Judith Ehrlich and Rick Goldsmith directed it together, with Ellsberg telling his own story. Ninety-two minutes. It was nominated for an Oscar. The title comes from what Kissinger is said to have called him.
