What The Muppets Take Manhattan Is About
The puppet troupe, newly graduated, come to New York to take the musical they have written to Broadway. No producer is interested and the money runs out. They have to split up and find work in different cities. The film keeps that separation genuinely sad, and the letter-writing passage is the quietest thing in the series. The narrative gathers itself again at the end, but that interlude is its best idea. Frank Oz directed and performs several of the puppets. It is the third cinema film in the series. Who it's for: families looking for classic puppet films. Who it's not for: viewers expecting the road structure of the first film; this one stays in a single city.
