The Mystery of Sintra

The account is set in the summer of 1870. Two writers take on a piece of work. They are Eca de Queiroz and Ramalho Ortigao. Together they are to write a murder story. It is to run in the newspaper Diario de Noticias. What they write is soon being talked about. Readers put one question. Is the story based on something that really happened. That question drives the two writers apart. The argument goes as far as a duel. Lisbon is in an uproar. One killing is followed by another. Ivo Canelas and Antonio Pedro Cerdeira take the leads, with Rogerio Samora also in the cast, in the Portuguese and Brazilian coproduction that Jorge Paixao da Costa made in 2007.
