The Olsen Gang Takes the Gold

Egon comes out of prison bringing with him the key to a big robbery. What they are after is German gold hidden in a bunker left over from the Second World War. The Olsen gang, Egon, Kjell and Benny, finds where the gold is, but things do not go as expected. The plan runs into trouble when two international criminals, Carina and Ricco, turn up. The film builds the heist as a comedy in which something is always one step short. The division of work among the three of them and the plans that keep going wrong are the real material. The Norwegian series is a remake of the Danish one and ran to fourteen films between 1969 and 1999. This is the only film of the series shot outside Oslo; it takes place in the south of the country. Arve Opsahl and Carsten Byhring appear in Knut Bohwim’s ninety four minute Norwegian film, completed in 1972.
