What The Optimists Is About
Hamar is a small town in Norway. There is a volleyball team there. The players on it are elderly women. The youngest is sixty six and the oldest is ninety eight. They meet once a week and train. They have kept that up for more than thirty years. In all that time they have never played a match. Now they decide to change that. They want to play their first game. An opposing team of male pensioners is found in Sweden. The other side accepts the invitation. So a period of preparation begins. They also have to learn the rules for the first time. The documentary follows that preparation and the journey. Goro Wergeland and Gerd Bergersen appear in the ninety two minute documentary, a Swedish and Norwegian co-production Gunhild Magnor finished in 2013.
