An old monkey prince wakes up injured and disoriented on a beach he does not recognise. Young Tom finds him and takes him home; Tom's parents are two dissident researchers who dared to believe that other peoples existed. The prince goes through this city with curiosity, but the society he finds is frozen and turned inward. Jean-François Laguionie and Xavier Picard direct it together, and it takes place in the same universe as Laguionie's A Monkey's Tale from 1999, with the same prince, while standing perfectly well on its own. It is made in pastel colours and soft line work, an unhurried philosophical tale.
