What The Rise Is About
Harvey Miller has done time for something he did not do, and comes out with one thing on his mind: getting even with the local dealer who put him there. He gathers his three closest friends and the plan is a robbery. The film does not tell it straight, though; Harvey is sitting in a police interview room, telling it in flashback, so you know from the first minute that something went wrong. A crime film set in Yorkshire that smells of class and unemployment. Rowan Athale's first feature played in Britain as Wasteland; The Rise is the later title.
