What The Role Is About
In Russia at the time of the revolution, a masterly actor takes on the greatest role of his life: playing the life of another man. Under the influence of symbolism and the thinking of the period, he decides to step into the place of a revolutionary leader who looks exactly like him. First comes curiosity, then obsession; the man starts playing the part not on a stage but in life, and he does not know himself how far he will take it. The film starts from real events in the lives of the Russian symbolists and asks where acting ends and the person begins. Maksim Sukhanov plays the lead in Konstantin Lopushansky’s hundred and thirty two minute Russian film, completed in 2013.
