Benno wakes up one morning to find sand in his bed. He ignores it for as long as he can, then works out that the sand is coming out of him: every time he lies it runs from his sleeves and trouser legs, and there is more of it each day. As his time literally starts running out, he has no choice but to ask for help from Sandra, who runs the little coffee shop below his flat and whom he cannot stand, even though he has been dreaming about her every night. Peter Luisi wrote and directed the film in Swiss German with Fabian Krüger as Benno, turning the old figure who brings sleep with a handful of sand into a device for measuring how much a man lies.
