Bonjour Switzerland

A referendum in Switzerland turns the country upside down: from now on there will be a single official language, and that language is French. For the German-speaking majority this is an identity crisis. The federal government assigns two officials to oversee the new arrangement, one a German speaker and the other a French speaker, and sends them to Ticino, the Italian-speaking region. Peter Luisi's comedy takes Switzerland's four-language structure as its direct subject and plays the film in all of those languages at once. The joke looks simple, but there is a serious question underneath: is what holds a country together a shared language, or the agreement to share several. Beat Schlatter and Vincent Kucholl play the two officials and carry the comedy between them.
