What The Snails' Senator Is About
A senator who takes himself very seriously comes to a small Romanian town for the opening of a newly built dam. After his speech a Swiss film crew wants to interview him, and because he is fixated on the country looking well from outside, he does everything he can to keep the journalists from seeing anything out of place. At the same time the rush to find the snails he has asked for at dinner sets the whole town on its feet. The film tells life after Ceausescu not directly but through that rush. Dorel Visan plays the lead in Mircea Daneliuc’s hundred and eight minute Romanian film, completed in 1995.
