The Specialist

The documentary takes place in a courtroom. The trial was held in Jerusalem in 1961. The accused is Adolf Eichmann. Eichmann was an official in the Nazi administration. He bore responsibility for the killing of millions of people. The hearings were filmed from beginning to end. Leo Hurwitz made that record. This documentary is built only from that footage. No new material is added. The camera does not leave the face of the accused. His answers go on record. He presents himself as a man following orders. He speaks of his respect for the law and for hierarchy. Eyal Sivan directed the hundred and twenty eight minute documentary. The Austrian, Belgian, French, German and Israeli coproduction was finished in 1999.
