What The Stone Boy Is About
Arnold is twelve. He lives with his family on a farm in Montana. His older brother Eugene is seventeen. One day the two of them go out together. Arnold’s gun goes off. Eugene is killed in the accident. The house falls silent. Arnold cannot make sense of what he feels. He does not cry and he does not speak. The family reads that the wrong way. His father does not know how to be with him. His mother has her own grief, his uncle turns openly hostile, and the family has to come to terms with Arnold as much as he with them. Robert Duvall and Glenn Close appear in the ninety one minute film, an American production Christopher Cain finished in 1984.
