What The Summit: A Chronicle Of Stones to Serenity Is About
The year is 1907 and the map of Japan is almost complete. One gap is left on it. That gap is the summit of Tsurugidake. Nobody has climbed the mountain. A survey unit attached to the army is assigned to it. At its head is a man called Shibasaki. Their task is to set a triangulation stone at the top. At the same time another team heads for the mountain. They are from the Japanese alpine club. Their methods are climbing techniques learned abroad. A race grows up between the two parties. The mountain itself treats both the same. The story is built on that climb. Tadanobu Asano and Teruyuki Kagawa appear in the hundred and thirty nine minute film, a Japanese production Daisaku Kimura finished in 2009.
