The Swordsman of All Swordsmen

A master swordsman sets out on the road. What he is after is to answer for the death of his parents. That quest runs for twenty years. For twenty years he does not let it go. The film is built inside the martial arts tradition. Sword duels are at the centre of the account. Debt and revenge are the themes that carry the story. Swordsmanship is both the subject and the means of the account. The kung fu tradition is the ground the work stands on. Chiang Nan, Tsao Chien and Miao Tian are also in the cast. The work runs action, history and drama together. Tien Peng is in the lead, with Polly Shang-Kuan Ling-Feng also in the cast, in Joseph Kuo’s Taiwanese film of 1968.
