The Terror Live

Yoon Young-hwa, a presenter demoted from television to radio, takes a caller on his live show who says he will blow up the Mapo Bridge. While the broadcast continues, the bridge actually explodes. Yoon sees this as the chance to save his career and decides to keep negotiating with the man on air. Kim Byung-woo keeps almost the entire film inside one studio, with the outside visible only on screens. Ha Jung-woo carries the frame alone for an hour and a half. The bomber's demand is not money but an apology from the state for workers who died years ago, and the film's actual target appears there: the traffic between power, broadcasting and the audience. The ending clears nobody. Who it is for: viewers who like single-location thrillers and Korean political cinema. Who it is not for: anyone expecting physical action.
