What The Train Has Stopped Is About
In a train crash the engine driver gives his own life to save the passengers. After it, two men come to the town: Ermakov, who is running the inquiry, and Malinin, a journalist. What they are after is not the same. The investigator wants to find why the crash happened and what negligence produced it. The journalist wants to write about the dead man’s heroism, and the town would rather have that too. The film shows how a story of heroism can cover a fault, and it puts neither man in the right. Oleg Borisov plays the lead in Vadim Abdrashitov’s ninety six minute Soviet film, completed in 1982.
