The Upthrown Stone

A young man wants to study film. He applies to the state university. His scholarship is refused. The reason is his father. His father has been put in prison for stopping a train. He did it so that two old friends could be brought together. The son takes a job instead. He works as a land surveyor. There he meets a Greek man who works for the common good of the peasants. The man is killed during a peasant rising set off by a piece of bureaucratic nonsense, and the young man looks after his widow. One day he witnesses something else, as Roma families are rounded up by state health workers. He photographs it, and that work gets him into the school that had turned him down. Lajos Balázsovits appears in the eighty four minute film, a Hungarian production Sára Sándor finished in 1969.
