What The Wizard of Speed and Time Is About
An animator who makes his own films single-handed goes to a big studio with an offer to shoot a short. The producer appears interested, but there is a bet behind it: money has been laid on the man failing to deliver in time. Union rules, budget games and closed doors follow one another. The animator tries to get the work done with the help of his friends. Mike Jittlov wrote, directed, did the effects for and starred in the film. The feature grew out of a short he made in 1979 that was shown on a Disney television programme. The effects are frame by frame and done by hand; no computers. The film mocks the way Hollywood works, and that mockery is remembered together with what happened to the production itself.
