What The Woman of My Life Is About
Simon, a celebrated violinist, drinks his way toward losing both his place in the orchestra and the shape of his own life. The woman who supports him is also the manager of the ensemble he plays in, and the film builds its tension on one uneasy question: is she helping him recover, or quietly living off his dependence on her? When a man who has walked the same road and come out sober offers his hand, Simon finds two rival ideas of rescue standing in front of him at once. Régis Wargnier opened his directing career with this hundred and two minute French German co-production, which took the César for best first feature in 1987. Christophe Malavoy, Jane Birkin and Jean-Louis Trintignant star.
