Kanagat Taskaraev What The Wounded Angel Is About
In a Kazakh village that looks all but abandoned, four adolescents are looking for a place of their own. One collects scrap metal hoping to find something of value, another dreams of becoming a surgeon so that he can support the girl he loves. All four, while looking for a door in the order the adults have built, come to see that this order offers them little. The film runs four separate stories inside the same landscape and ties none of them to a comforting end. The look of the account is distant and cold; the camera watches without entering the events. Emir Baigazin’s hundred and thirteen minute Kazakh film was completed in 2016.
